Engbertdijksvenen in the late afternoon sun

Went for a walk with my mother at the Engbertdijksvenen last week.

Such a gorgeous place, too. I love the peat bogs. Our side of the country used to be filled with these. (Okay, at some point most of the Netherlands were filled with either these or forests, but we managed to burn up most of it before the nineteenth century. I come from the part of the country where these were left longest; my grandfathers have worked in the peat when they were young.)
